Dave Anderson & Thatch Elmer

Guitarist, Musician, Poet, Songwriter, Storyteller, Vocalist

Dave and Thatch are teaming up this year to deliver our “What’s it like to be a Cowboy?” Presentation.

David Anderson is a home grown Utah boy who has always had a love for music. David started his musical endeavors as a drummer, but when his father asked him to jockey race horses he traded his drums for a guitar because the drums couldn’t be packed in the horse trailer. Since his teenage years David has continued to play and use his talent to cultivate his love of western music. He shares his music with anyone who will listen. He has entertained audiences all across the Western United States at county fairs, festivals, parties and assisted living centers. He has acquired several awards including male vocalist of the year for the Utah chapter of the IWMA, and the Golden Note award from Cowboy Poets of Idaho. He has also been nominated for songwriter of the year and song of the year for the IWMA. David is singing the classics as well as putting his own western experiences to song to help keep cowboy music alive. Now that he is retired, he enjoys riding his horses and spending time with his family. Email: davidacowboy@aol.com

Thatch Elmer is a 19 year old Cowboy Poet, Team Roper & Rodeo Announcer, from Harrisville, Utah. He is considered a ‘Veteran’ of Cowboy Poetry since his first open mic at Heber City as a nine year old. Since then, he has been to gatherings, festivals and private events all over the USA. Horses, rodeo and team roping are the passions that inspire his original writings, but the ‘Classic Cowboy Poems’ are favorites of Thatch and the audience no matter where he performs.
